I think the subject of who pays for the wedding could be one of the
most controversial and confusing parts of the whole wedding planning
scenario.
Why is that?
Well in all fairness, I don’t think the traditional way of “the
bride’s family pays for about everything” should hold true in light of a
lot of things that have changed over the years.
First, the always-changing economy forces a lot of first-time brides’
families to scramble for money. They want give their daughters the
best wedding they can on a really limited budget.
This leaves some families doing anything they can to be able to foot
the bill, including taking out loans or refinancing a mortgage that they
might have problems paying back later on.
So if you’re not ‘in the money’ and the groom’s family is, don’t be
too proud to ask for a little help here and there. If the groom’s family
is decent about it, they won’t have a problem pitching in to make sure
the couple has their dream wedding.
And if you’re the bride’s family and money is no object or not an
issue, feel free to stick to tradition you can be who pays for the
wedding.
What does the bride’s family pay for? The most expensive parts of the day, of course!
